Mrs Mop

If I had balls, I’d worked them off today. I don’t know about the woman who had the house before dad but jeez she’d didn’t like to keep her kitchen cupboards clean or her kitchen in general! Although saying that the council should have cleaned it to a better standard before dad signed the tenancy but they didn’t, it was the same with my property before I moved in. Still at least I’ve given it my cleaning touch you can eat your dinner out of those cupboards now. I’ve scrubs those tiles so much so they gleam now although it took forever to remove all the splashes of curry stains from them!

We’ve spent about 7 hours there today doing jobs that needed doing, the decorator finished yesterday. This afternoon we were expecting a council inspector out to visit and check the electric fireplace to give us permission to possibly remove it and replace it, it was awful, old, ancient and ugly. Thing is we took it out last week, plastered up the hole in the wall and got our electrician who was already doing some major work in the house for dad to change the electrics to a wall socket so dad could use his own electric fire suite he’s got. Anyway the inspector failed to turn up today, we phoned up to see where he was, seems permission was granted without the need for a visit, just as well since we ripped out the fire place anyway!

Spent ages cleaning the UPVC window frames and doors which looked like they had never been cleaned since they were put in, they are now white again! Dad swept up the back garden which was just, well a mess and included so much rubbish we had to make three visits to the tip last week to get rid of everything! The only thing that has pissed me off today that dad did, because he’s plain stupid and doesn’t think is for some stupid reason he wanted to mop the floors before the carpets go down… cue starting in the bedroom and cue splashing dirty water on nicely new painted walls! Not just on one side in a small area, but on nearly all the walls before actually realising what he’d done, needless to say I was far from amused… I’d banned him now from going anywhere near a mop and bucket!

Between us we have worked hard today and we got a lot done, we have a few little jobs to do tomorrow. The carpets are going down on Thursday and the move is schedule to take place next Tuesday! So everything is keeping to the planned timetable as he has to have the keys handed in for his current house by the end of next week! I think he wants to go up there at the weekend and mow the lawn as the garden is pretty overgrown and it needs a cut in preparation for when Oscar moves in, we don’t want to lose him in the grass, he’s only small!

I must keep my dentist appointment next week since my temporary filling fell out last night, that didn’t last long did it, two weeks? three weeks? Although saying that it didn’t give me any problems in and it’s not giving me any problems out. I’m guessing the nerves to the tooth have long since died!

Now I’m off to do the change of address cards, see I get another job, anyone would think I was moving house… oh finally remembers to make a mental note to redirect the mail with royal mail!
