Taking Shape
Things are happening, dare I say that because it might just jinx something. I was greeted by a plumber this morning just before 9am and the shower and pump are now installed. Shortly after him an electrician arrived to connect the shower. Whilst he was here the floor fitters returned and replaced part of the floor. The liaison officer Caron has been and the site foreman Neil has shown his face. Ironic since I spent two hours this morning writing a very long letter of complaint which I emailed to the council in the early hours of this morning.
The electrician has been back and the fan is also now done and working! I am just waiting for the joiner now to install the shower doors and rail. It could have been done today but with mum being in hospital I really need to visit her this afternoon since I can’t tomorrow. It’s been agreed the joiner will return on Friday afternoon to complete what needs doing and the electrician has some final work to do! I have my own hospital appointment on Friday morning and will call Neil when I am almost home to let him know so the joiner can come over.
I’ve been to see mum and we got home earlier she is okay and she’s looking a little better than yesterday. They have been really efficient with looking after her on the renal unit. She was on a drip last night to restore the calcium levels and she’s on a magnesium drip now. There has been a real change in her blood test results since she was last in the outpatients department a couple of months ago and the kidney is not looking good so the doctor has talked to her about dialysis. They have said she can prepare to go on it now or they can give her more drugs to keep the kidney going. I think it’s best for mum if she was back on dialysis especially since we have known for over two years this kidney transplant has not been working so well. They also did the ultrasound scan on her legs this afternoon and that was fine no signs of blood clots.
Mum knows I can’t see her tomorrow since I will be attending the therapy group. I need it this week I can tell you. Dad will visit her instead and take some items up she needs. Since I want to spend as much time as possible with Alfie in the morning (he’s been really stressed today with the amount of workmen coming and going!) I won’t be heading to the group till after 10am so I can take him on a good walk in the morning. Dad will pop him and take him for a walk at lunchtime before he goes to see mum!
No one at the group knows yet, I plan on missing my little job role one of the others will have to fill in for me this time and I’ll get there just before 10.15am, at least I will be there. I did debate not going so I could visit mum and have the joiner in tomorrow but with the week I’ve had I think it’s essential to go and get some support. I shall see Mum again on Friday evening for visiting.
I can hardly believe that things are actually moving along with the bathroom! Finally after endless problems it’s beginning to look like a bathroom now! I gave it a little clean up earlier so it’s looking better. Obviously I still can’t use the shower so I’ll head up to Dad’s later again for tonight! You can check out the latest pictures here!
Finally since I didn’t get to bed till the early hours I’ve also done a letter of complaint about that car park attendant yesterday. It’s been mailed off to the chief executive of the hospital as per the complaints procedure on there website!
Finally I woke up this morning to find it snowing just before 7am!
Snow in October… it was really beautiful!

Pleased to hear they are finally getting their fingers out, good luck tomorrow at the Therapy Group…xx
Glad that your Mum is a little better. And just think, you might be able to use your own bathroom by the weekend.
Finally things are beginning to move! Bet it’s a bit of a weight off your mind. The waiting is the worst. Hope you’re taking care of yourself x
