Today has gone okay in terms of the workmen and the start of the transformation of the bathroom. I shipped Alfie off to his grandma’s just after 8am and the workmen arrived just before 8.30am. It’s been noisy with the drilling which can only be expected and the waft of dust has caused the smoke alarm to continually go on and off intermittently all day!
I’ve spent the day making tea and watching TV whilst I kept pondering online to see if there was any gossip! It’s been a boring day but I am glad the biggest part of the job is done or at least I hope that is the case! I did buy a pile of magazines to read yesterday but I read them last night!
Lunch was a mad dash rush to McDonalds so I could use there loo! There is nothing worse than spending the morning drinking tea to the point you are crossed legged and have no toilet to access! This afternoon despite not drinking since 11am I needed the loo again and so walked over to the community college over the road, desperate times and all that!
This afternoon the electrician arrived and started to install what he needed to do. I don’t know the technical term but it’s one of those boxes with all the trip switches for each item in the house, these older properties don’t have them but they are being installed before the shower is fitted. I did have one in my old house which I think only ever tripped out once on me in six years!
At around 10am I sneaked a peek at what was my bathroom to be confronted with a pile of rubble where my shower cubicle once was! Don’t worry there will be plenty of before and after pictures when the job is done!
As for the therapy group tomorrow, I will be going for the whole day that I have decided! I have not seen the site foreman at all today so I have not actually had the chance to tell him I won’t be in. The electrician told me he will be back tomorrow for about an hours work but I’ve told him I won’t be in! I have to go out I can’t stand another day cooped up in the house, besides I really don’t want to miss the group!
I was left with all the cleaning when the workman left, I was informed they would clean up before the day was out but come 5pm they where gone. It took me around an hour to just give everything a half decent clean and get rid of some dust! My nice neat clean tidy cupboard I did the other day is not longer clean, it’s full of dust but that is going to have to wait till the weekend to tackle, it’s not so bad but bad enough to annoy the hell out of me!
I’ve just took my first bath in 12 months, how weird was that! I went over to mum’s and it was nice to linger in a bath I didn’t want to get out! Mum made me some delicious scrambled eggs on toast for tea as well! Alfie has been as good as gold for mum today but I thought his tail would drop off when he saw me come to pick him up, it’s been far to quiet in the house with no Alfie to entertain me!
Still I am glad the days over and I am going to put my feet up with a cup of tea and watch Silent Witness!
It sounds as if the workmen have got stuck in today. You’ll soon have your new bathroom in no time. Once you see it completed, I’m sure you’ll soon forget all that dust, LOL
Talking of which, I cannot wait to see the before and after pics!
Also, it’s good to hear that you are going to attend this week’s therapy session. I do hope it goes well for you. Over the weeks, it’s great to hear that you seem to be settling in more and more.
As for little Alfie, I bet he really missed you – even though he was being well looked after by Grandma.

I couldn’t live without my bath – I bet that will become a habit with you soon! I shower every morning and wouldn’t generally have a bath to get clean, but I do love lying for an hour, with loads of bubbles and a magazine or a good book.
